to Striperheads
Hi guys
I am hoping that you are not frozen in place, and still believe
that warm weather is coming.
here's the scoop on the 2015 striperheads dates:
the offical main clave dates for this year are
Wed Sept 16 through Sat Sept 19 with the pot luck gathering on
Sat the 19th
I have reserved Yurt # 16 in area 4 of nickerson's from Sunday
afternoon the 13th until Sunday morning the 20th
for those of you who monitor the moon phase in relationship to the
tide changes, the 13th is a new moon .....
Also, and especially for certain Brits and newly retired
striperheads, there is a mini clave in June
I have reserved Yurt # 16A in area 2 at the Shame-Crowell State
Campground from Sunday June 7th, leaving Friday June 12th
For those interested, this campground is right near Barnstable
harbor , and the town of Sandwich, where we have had good
"spring" results in the past .
this is just past the Cape Cod canal crossing, and about 40 minutes
closer to the mainland than Brewster and Nickerson's.
Lets throw out some thoughts and ideas and see how the group
shapes up for the 2015 season...
stay tuned into the state gov regs for striped bass for this
year.... the big meeting of the striper management board this
past fall voted in favor of a 25% biomass reduction in the size/creel limits.
currently 2 fish at a min of 28", this sportfishing harvest
reduction could wind up meaning a couple different thing.... the
most common is 1 fish with a minimun of 28 " length, or could
stay at 2 fish with a minimum of 33".
there are other possible change combinations that could be used by
the management people to achieve the 25 % reduction.
personally. I would prefer to see the reduction to 1 fish per
day, and this seems to be the more widely acceptable route.
Stay tuned for more information .
