Question about missing attributes.

Kinda a noob with String Template.
When setting up a template, if the attribute keys are not set into the ST object it throws the following error:
context [anonymous] 1:2 attribute a isn't defined
Is there either a template function or flag that will suppress this error? I am going to change our implementation of the code throwing this, but in the meantime it's cluttering up our logs and I'd like it gone.
