One year ago I started working on robot on the nights and weekends to leverage one of the cheapest robot morphologies available - a cable-driven paralell robot (CDPR) to do household chores.
Today, I have that robot - called Stringman -
and it has even pick up a few socksWith a promising prototype and an interested community, I've decided to start a company -
Neufangled Robotics - to work on it full time to make this robot a reliable, simple, room organizing appliance, and get it in the hands of the first customers.
The name Neufangled is derived from my ancestor's original family name Neufang. Many immigrants are believed to have anglicized their names to avoid discrimination and get a job more easily. Now that I'm leaving the corporate world, It seemed appropriate to take it back.
Neufangled Robotics' company mission is to give everyone an organized home. Our development philosophy is inspired in part by indie video game developers who push frequent updates and incorporate frequent feedback and mods from their customers.
To that end, if anyone here would like to test our robot in your own home, please let me know. Your feedback is invaluable.
