to Stringman Crew
As of yesterday, I've filed the articles of organization and officially founded Neufangled Robotics LLC with the state of North Carolina.

I've been kicking around the idea of starting a company for a while now, and watching the success of Opulo gave me the certainty I needed to leave Garmin and put my full effort into designing, testing, and selling a robot to give people a more organized home.

There are quite a few well funded humanoid robotics companies in the US already that are trying to shoot for the moon, and they've been in development a long time, and may be there for a long time to come. I'm taking a different tack. sell the prototype now, get it into homes, playrooms, garages, and anywhere else that needs a hand picking up junk. the more testing the better. after all untested code is broken and only real feedback can make a product better.

I will be selling Stringman, a household robot with a low cost and large reach.
The initial prototype is already available and and there are several new developments coming.

Stringman can identify targets on the floor such as laundry and drop them in a marked bin until there are no more valid targets. when not in use, it parks itself on a perch out of reach.
  • A web based control panel where you can pilot your robot from anywhere, and use it like a security camera with a hand.
  • A new gripper design that does not swing and has a wrist DoF
  • A new anchor based on the American made Moteus 4 motor controller.

I've added you to the group because you know me and I thought you'd be interested. but you can leave if you like via the google groups page.

Thank you all for your interest and support.
