Hi!

I just got my Dual Strike v3 and connected 2 wires to GND's so I could try buttons out before I put in arcade stick.

When I connect it in my Win7 PC's USB port following error comes:
"Device driver software was not successfully installed"

In Device Manager Dual Strike is Unknown Device and Device Status is:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Do I need drivers? I thought it would be automagically recognized as HID device.

After the PC problem I tried it in my PS3 and it works there so it is not broken.

What have I missed?

Hello!

As stated in the Dual Strike Manual, to use the DS on a PC the first time with auto-detection, you have to force the PC mode by pressing HK. After the drivers have been installed by Windows, auto-detection will work as expected. Here's the appropriate part from the manual: <https://docs.google.com/document/d/17Nyr6vPujHAXz3PxjKwKBWEf8Lf6xNjQocsVg_qAqNc/preview?pli=1#heading=h.74d9f714b757>

Best regards,
Michael

Thanks for the answer.

My Windows 7 x64 PC and Windows 8 x64 laptop just doesn't recognise DS. Windows says it's Unknown Device and Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). Even Config Manager's red dot doesn't turn green when I press Select and connect the device.
Have tried every button and only time Windows recognises DS is when I press Start when I connect the device. That time DS is on device list as HIDBoot.

Should I try upgrading the firmware or is it even possible now?

Strange issues... But as connecting with "Start" pressed works (the firmware update mode), you should try reinstalling the firmware. To be save, after that first check the configuration using the configuration editor. Then try again to connect the DS pressing HK on plugging in, Windows should install the drivers (which come with Windows) and the DS should work.

Good Luck,
Michael
