Too much stress is dangerous. It can lead to anxiety, depression,
frustration, outbursts and even violence. Sooner or later, a stressed
out person will be afflicted by a stress related ailments such as
colds, infections, body pain, high blood pressure or even heart
disease.
Fortunately, there are a lot of stress remedies that can help one cope
up with stress. Stress remedies are either simple and cheap or complex
and expensive.
The first stress remedy in mind, and certainly one of the most
effective is having a healthy lifestyle. That means there should be a
change in dietary habits. Stressed out people should eat healthy food
such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables. They should stay away
from food rich in sugar and fat.
Many people drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. They think that these
are good stress remedies. The truth is that alcohol and smoking takes
away the body's nutrients, thus worsening stress. Instead of taking
these harmful substances, expert suggests taking Siberian ginseng or
lemon balm. These herbs soothe the nervous system and decrease stress
levels. They are commonly found in health food stores.
A daily does of vitamin C is also a good stress remedy. Vitamin C is
an antioxidant and strengthens the immune system. The vitamin also
enables the person to resist stress related diseases such as colds and
infections. Just like Siberean ginseng and lemon balm, they are sold
in health food stores.
Many people also practice aromatherapy as a stress remedy.
Aromatherapy involves breathing in the scents of pleasantly scented
oils and herbs. The smells can actually reduce stress and invoke a
sense of calm. Some of the most popular aromatherapy oils include
chamomile, clary sage, frankincense, lavender, marjoram, peppermint,
rosemary, tangerine and sandalwood.
A massage is also an excellent stress remedy. Stress usually causes
headaches and body pain. A good massage can relax the muscles and
improve blood circulation. A head massage can also soothe the nerves
and gets rid of headaches. After a massage, one could immerse himself
in a hot bath. A hot bath can cleanse the skin, clear the head and can
further relax the muscles. People usually feel very relaxed after a
hot bath. All these remedies are very effective in getting rid of
stress.
