Congratulations to your student on completing the first iReady Diagnostic! This Diagnostic is an important tool our educators use to understand your student better and where we can offer the best support. It will help your students' teachers determine their needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the year.
When viewing your child's iReady score, keep in mind that this first assessment is given for baseline data. This test was administered in September of this year. It is expected that students are coming into the school year with last year's content knowledge (ie. a sixth grader in September 2025 should come into 6th grade with a solid understanding of 5th grade math or reading).
The way the diagnostic assessments are scored is at the current grade level. Using the example above, the student who understands 5th-grade content in September of 6th grade will be scored "5th grade," which is a yellow score in the 6th-grade level.
However, that student has not yet been exposed to much of the 6th-grade content. We expect students to enter the school year with prior knowledge from last year. We aren't concerned about most yellow scores at this time in the school year, and we look at them as the foundation from last year that will be built upon this school year.
