THE PRACTICES- The Appreciation Practices of Meditative Reflection & Mindful Eating
Appreciative Meditative Reflection
Appreciation and anxiety
can not both be present in our mind at the same moment. Often our habit
of mind is to worry about what unpleasant experience could happen next.
When we notice that anxious over-thinking is not helpful, we can
shift our attention to something that we appreciate. This allows the
body and mind to re-balance in a safe and enjoyable way. Reflective
appreciation will be one of the stress reduction practices for this
evening. :-)
Appreciative Mindful Eating
Mindful eating has the powerful potential to transform our relationship with food and to also release stress.
With
time and mindfulness we learn more about why and how we are eating.
With appreciative eating we feel and taste the food in a new and
different way.
When we remember to eat with interest and appreciation it naturally
releases stress. When eating we can experience moving and feeling the
textures of the food. The deeper flours of the food. We may want to
reflect on what was involved in growing and preparing the food for us
to enjoy. :-)
