Today is the final day to provide feedback on the upcoming redesign of Bardstown Rd (Eastern Pkwy to Taylorsville Rd), and we’re encouraging everyone to review the road plans and take the online survey.
The survey includes 6 segments (A-F) for public comment, and we think the critical parts to focus on are Segments D and E that include the future design of the Douglass Loop intersection. One option proposes a two-lane street design with a roundabout at the center of the Loop; the other option keeps the current configuration: a four-lane road with a traffic signal.
We strongly support the two-lane roundabout option (Option D10 and E5) — our analysis is that fewer driving lanes will calm traffic and that crosswalks set back from the intersection will improve visibility and pedestrian safety. We encourage you to complete the survey and voice your support as well.

Cliff’s Notes / Easy Button:
Segments A+B: reasonable people can disagree; both are good
Segment C: there’s only one option; it’s fine
Segments D+E: strong preference for two-lane option with roundabout over four-lane option with traffic signal
Segment F: meh
Thanks! And feel free to drop us a line to say hello!
