iTunes Scanning Issue

When I try and scan my iTunes library the command line just stops... I'm not sure how else to phrase it, but after I hit enter, the cursor drops down a line and then command line just sits there. I've waited quite a while to see if maybe it was "working", but nothing. Any suggestions?
