Send email to update subscription info

Hello,

We are using the API to make our own custom forms on several websites as we have found using iframes to not be not as elegant as we would like. 

Question:

If a user is already subscribed and re-enters their info into a form, we would like to trigger the system to send the second default email from the system, eg: the "Welcome (Opt-In Confirmation)". 

Is this possible?
