Hi,

We had a very unfortunate and totally unnecessary incident today.

Summary:
The registrar domaindiscover.com which is our registrar of the domain
streamads.com” prematurely updated the name server links to point to
their own name servers. The domain only expires on 11 May 2009, yet
this update was made on 7 May 2009 – at least 4 days early. Our plan
was to move the “streamads.com” domain to our main registrar account
with GoDaddy.com and then renewing this domain for several more years,
but since they acted prematurely we did not get the opportunity to
complete that process in time.

Impact:
This issue impacted clients sporadically. DNS are usually heavily
cached all around the internet and this change only affected certain
clients for which the cache already expired. Once reports from these
clients arrived we were able to isolate the problem and fix it within
minutes. However, due to the same cache that prevented trouble for
many clients, certain clients may continue to experience problems
until the new DNS change updates for them. They can try to speed up
this process by manually clearing their DNS cache. In some cases the
DNS will be cached by the ISP in which case clients will have to wait
for the DNS to update.

Apology:
We sincerely apologize to all clients affected by this outage. We were
caught of-guard by the actions of our registrar. We are continuing the
process of moving the domain to a more reputable company “GoDaddy.com”
where we host all of our other domains. We ended up with this
registrar simply because they were selling the “StreamAds.com” name.
Those clients that have been with us from the start might recall we
used the domain “streamadz.com” in previous years and then later moved
to “streamads.com” when it became available for purchase.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to
contact us.
