Invitation: In-Country Dialogue Session & Interactive Video Conference on October 17, 2018
International Day for the Eradication of Poverty - End Poverty Day 2018
To mark the International Day for Eradication of Poverty-End Poverty Day (EPD) 2018, the World Bank, in conjunction with the United Nations is hosting a number of events in various countries around the World under the theme “Africa’s Youth and the Future of Work.
As part of the activities, an in-country dialogue and interactive video conference, connecting several countries, including Ghana, to the World Bank’s Headquarters in Washington D.C., will be held on October 17, 2018. Youth and institutions operating within the ambit of Digital Economy and Disruptive Technology, will be brought together to deliberate on the theme and its relevance for the Youth and future generations of Africa.
In a recent blog highlighting the importance of this subject, World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, noted: “…the pace of innovation is accelerating, and the jobs of the future – in a few months or a few years – will require specific, complex skills.
Human capital will become an ever more valuable resource. In short, the changing nature of work – and how best to prepare people for the jobs of the future – are some of the toughest challenges countries face…”
You are kindly invited to participate in an in-country dialogue session and a video conference to discuss:
…What can be done to advance Poverty Reduction and Shared Prosperity in Africa…
…How African Countries can improve their rankings on the Human Capital Index…
…How Africa’s Youth can develop the right skills to meet the needs of the Future Workplace…
The occasion will also be used to launch a Region-wide Blog4Dev2019 competition under the theme: What will it take to enhance the SKILLS needed to prepare AFRICA’s YOUTH for the DIGITAL ECONOMY and the FUTURE of WORK?
These events will be complemented by a global digital and social media campaign will work to raise awareness and continue building momentum around the End Poverty movement and provide actionable engagements to support advocacy and policy change. The vision is for October 17 to become a global rallying moment for the movement to end poverty, every year from now until 2030. We hope that you will join us.
