Dear colleagues and partners,
The
4th Africa-Europe Youth Summit, happening on 9-11 October in Abidjan,
Côte d’Ivoire, will bring together more than 120 youth leaders from both
continents, including African Diaspora, to agree on a declaration on
themes including education, peace & security, environment, business,
democratic inclusion and culture. The overarching
theme will be "Investing in Youth".
A
follow-up group of 36 youth selected for the “EU-AU Youth Plug-In
Initiative”
will pursue the work between 30 October and 29 November, embedded in the
AU in Addis Ababa and the EU in Brussels as two Euro-African groups.
The EU-AU fellows will develop further ideas on Africa-EU cooperation
relating to the six topics tackled by the Youth
Summit.
The
work of the Youth Summit and the Plug-In Initiative will be presented
to and endorsed by the Heads of State from both continents at the AU-EU
Summit on 29-30 November in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, which is itself
focused on youth.
All
travel and accommodation expenses are covered for chosen applicants.
Participants selected for the Youth Plug-In Initiative are also
allocated a stipend for the period of the Youth Plug-In Initiative.
A
call for participation of young Africans, Europeans and Diaspora
between
18-35 years for both events has been launched. Interested candidates can
start their application to participate in the Summit under the
following link. Participation in Youth Plug-in Initiative is optional in
section 6. Note
that for technical reasons there are three different application forms.
However, the criteria for all participants both for the Youth Summit and
the YPII – and irrespective of geographical origin – are the same.
Closing date for applications: 6 August 2017.
We need your help to disseminate the call through your networks and communication
channels. We would be grateful if you could forward this message to interested individuals and youth organisations.
