Hi Dwayne,
The long awaited revision of the second edition of the "K0S Field
Manual" is scheduled to begin by April 2008. I am hopeful this will only
take a short time to rewrite.
I have begun outlining another small book with the working title of
"Introduction to the Strange Antenna Challenge" which offers an overview
of this special event. Topics include the event's origins, intro theory
to at least dipoles and vertical antennas, and extending these basic
concepts to creating Strange Antennas. It will also touch upon the
basics of handling different types of transmission line and reviewing
some of the hookup options, and the use of transmatches.
One of these books is likely to return to the original concept of a
field manual containing much of the info we all tend to forget when
conducting field operations. This would essentially be a reference. The
idea is to keep it small, yet provide all those nagging things we only
half-remember while on the run.
Beyond this, other small books are planned that would each address more
specific questions about the Strange Antenna Challenge, making and using
Strange Antennas, and going into theory of operation more deeply. If
interest warrants there may also be a book addressing public relations,
writing a press release, and contacting local media agencies. This book
would not address the Strange Antennas themselves, but rather provided
templates and suggestions as to how one might involve the public and
media more effectively.
