Fellow Strand Brewers,

I hope many of you signed up for this Saturday’s brewery bus tour being hosted by the Maltose Falcons. If not, it’s sold out so ignore the following.

Since the bus is leaving at 8:30 AM from the Union Station downtown, the most practical way to get there is on Metro Rail.

That means Green Line to Blue Line to Red Line.

I’ve ridden public transportation in many countries and find the L. A. Metro Rail system has the most difficult timetables to figure out.

So I thought I’d share my research. You can check it on

http://www.metro.net

Or call 323-466-3876 for Metro information.

If anyone wants to carpool to the nearest station, let’s get together.

But the day will not be half as fun if we don’t make it to Union Station well before 8:30 AM with a bit of extra time allotted for missed trains.

Here are the South Bay Metro Stations with Park&Ride lots, starting at the head of the line and going east

Redondo Beach

4 Bike Lockers

El Segundo

7 Bike Lockers

Mariposa

Aviation/LAX
11500 Aviation Bl, Los Angeles 90045
Free On-site Parking – 405 Spaces
12 Bike Rack Spaces
20 Bike Lockers

The following itinerary will let you arrive at Union Station by 8:10 AM. The next train gets there at 8:25 AM but on that schedule you’ll miss the bus if you miss a connection.

Get on the Green Line going toward Norwalk (east) at:

Redondo/Marine at 6:55 AM

Douglas at 6:57 AM

El Segundo at 6:59 AM

Mariposa at 7:01 AM

Aviation/LAX at 7:03

This gets you to the Imperial Wilmington (Rosa Parks) Station at 7:17 AM. Then go down the stairs and transfer to the Blue Line going toward Los Angeles (north). It should leave at 7:26 AM

Off at the end of the Blue Line at 7th St. Metro Center Station.

Get the Red Line to Union Station (east) at 8:04 AM

That should arrive at Union Station at 8:10 AM

The next set of trains runs about 10-12 minutes later.

Remember to get your ticket before boarding because the Sheriff Dept. patrols the trains. A day pass is usually cheapest and easiest.

Good luck.
