Good morning Mr. Watson. Ellisdee is asking about pastes, but since I
have never really been involved with them, I was wondering if you new
the grits and grit colors for him. Matt may be able to shed some light
on them as well.

Sorry, I won't be much help.  I do use a four sided pasted strop - but it was prepasted when I bought it.  The four sides are as follows: 1) slate or some other soft stone, 2) Red paste, 3) Black paste, 4) natural leather.

I've had the strop for 3 maybe 4 years and I use it about once a month or less for my two rotation blades and I don't think it's ready for another application yet as it's working fine.

The pasted sides are leather.  here is a link to the strop I have.  I have not bought from this seller, so this is not a referral for this seller.  I bought the strop from a lister on SRP that used to have an online store.

http://premiumknives.com/ShopSite/Jemico_Solingen_J45_Strop.html

The price at that store seems about normal for US pricing, however sometimes you can find them from German ebay sellers for about a third of the price (and that includes shipping)

I highly recommend this strop.  It's great to use when normal stropping does not bring your razor back to keen.  By using this strop I only hone my rotation razors once, maybe twice a year.

More often I see the Jemico two sided strop with green paste which is also a good choice, I've had that in the past too.  However I sold it when I got the four sided strop as I feel it does a more thorough job as it has stone and two types of paste and natural leather where the two sided has one type of paste and natural leather.
