Would you bring up the subject?

If you met someone who has strabismus, would you bring up the subject?

I saw a clerk at the grocery store in the courtesy office had a bad
case of exotropia and almost went up to her and invited her to join
this mailing list. But then I realized she might die of embarrassment,
so I didn't.

Why is it so embarrassing? because it's something that the person
themselves cannot see about themselves, or does it imply that the
person is weak in some way.
