Strabismus explanation from a surgeon

I saw this message on the sci.med.vision newsgroup that is from an
ophthalmologic surgeon, which explains strabismus and the surgery for
it, from his viewpoint:

, where he states his belief that the actual cause of strabismus is
neurological, and not the eye muscles, so basically that raises the
question, at some point in the future, will doctors be able to cure
strabismus by operating inside the brain, instead of on the eye
muscles? Really intriguing stuff.
