It's Right Whale Season
The Marine Resources Council's Right Whale program is looking for some
added help this year. As you may already know, our beaches are at the
southern end of what is considered critical habitat for pregnant right
whales to give birth. Our most successful way of sighting these
whales, documenting their situation, noting their heading and taking
photos for identification, is from the crossovers on the beaches which
have suffered damage in the aftermath of Sandy. The MRC would like to
contact as many beach front property owners as possible to get
permission for a few people to come onto their land this winter for
the purpose of tracking these endangered whales when information
dictates their presence. To give this permission or to learn more
about the program, you can contact Julie Albert at the MRC at
321-725-7775 or
wha...@mrcirl.org.
