WHO: Dr. Brian Shamblin
WHAT: Speaking at the May 3rd monthly membership meeting
WHEN: Meeting begins at 7:30, the doors open at 7 p.m. with light
refreshments served
WHERE: Melbourne Beach Community Center, 507 Ocean Ave.
Our speaker for May is Dr. Brian Shamblin, from the University of
Georgia. Brian completed his Masters and Ph.D. degrees at the
University of Georgia in marine turtle genetics, and is currently
working there as a postdoctoral research associate. Dr. Shamblin's
talk will focus on using genetic tools to learn more about marine
turtle demographics and behavior, with a special focus on loggerhead
and green sea turtles nesting on the east coast of Florida. Brian
will also give us some interesting information about green sea turtles
nesting in the Virgin Islands.
