STPS Board Election Procedures for December 2012
The STPS by-laws require that the annual meeting of the Corporation be
held in Brevard County in December. For many years now STPS has
combined the STPS annual Board elections with a Holiday party. This
year the meeting is Saturday December 8th at the Melbourne Beach
Community Center. Since this is a very busy time of year for most
people, fewer than 60 people usually attend. Our membership is
currently over 600, and many do not live in Brevard County or even
Florida. Last year we tried a mail-in ballot procedure with minimal
success. Even so, we are going to try the mail-in approach again with
hopes for a better response. Your ballot will be included in the
November newsletter with instructions for completing it.
Since we use BULK MAIL to send out the newsletter, occasionally it
gets lost in the mail. If you do not receive your ballot please call
(or email) the STPS Sea Turtle House and we will mail one to you. A
future Flipper Flash will provide the slate of candidates and schedule
dates for voting.
We are hoping that this approach will encourage our members to stand
up and be counted!
