We’re happy to let you know that the Department of Parks and Recreation has contracted a vendor to perform improvements to the Arlington/Arkwright Off-Leash Dog Area beginning the week of November 2, 2009.

The project will affect the south east side of the park (at the top of the hill). The work includes the removal of the old dilapidated fence and its replacement with a 6 foot high chain link fence. The old fence is in disrepair and the new fence will ensure a safer environment for all.

The improvements will take several days to complete and the contractor will be accessing the park via the maintenance gates located in the alley at the south end of the park between Arkwright and Clark Streets. The contractor will begin working in the park after 8:00 AM, and they may be using large trucks and air compression equipment to conduct the work. This equipment might be noisy at times, but is necessary for the work to be completed as quickly as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we believe the end result will allow for greater privacy and safety. If you have any comments or questions about this project, please feel free to contact me at 651-755-5661 or via e-mail at eric.t...@ci.stpaul.mn.us
