I just came back from the public hearing at the City Council.

I am totally delighted to report that not only did the Council vote to
approve the entire Master Plan, no opponents even showed up to protest
the proposed dog park component.

I think this is entirely due to the fact so many of you were willing
to write emails and make phone calls to the Council members.

So all of you should give yourself a pat on the back.

I think word got around to opponents that dog parkers were rising en
masse to support this proposal, and as a consequence, they decided it
was not worth their effort to come out on a rainy night to oppose it.

Parks & Rec have set a goal of 4-6 additional dog parks for the city,
and Lilydale is an important first step. But unless we continue to
pressure and encourage them, it will never happen.

Thanks to everyone who helped.............. but keep your powder dry
for the next round.

BTW, I should also mention we will not see a Lilydale dog park for
sometime -- maybe 2 years. That area is presently filled with concrete
debris, which will be removed and crushed for use elsewhere in the
park. Federal and State monies will be used for this purpose, and
schedules will depend on when $$$ are available.
