Stout Ruggers:

The 2014 Season is just around the corner for UW-Stout Rugby and just like we did in Spring 2013, I am looking for our great Old Boys network to fundraiser for the New Boys. Every Jacket or Pant that you purchase yourself will be matched by the WRC and donated to the New Boys order for Tracksuits.

In 2013 thanks to your help, the donations allowed us to purchase warm-up tops for the entire current roster.

Please consider buying a Jacket, Pants or both and help UW-Stout looks like a class act on and off the field this Fall.

Click Below to purchase:
If you would prefer to send a check for your order or any additional donation for this campaign please mail a check payable to WRC to

The weekend of Oct. 11th 2014 is not only Stout's Homecoming but will also be the biggest match of the Club's fall season.  Stout will be facing off with UW-Whitewater, most recently ranked by Goff at #4 for Collegiate Mens' DII (Stout recently added ranked as #27); the other regularly scheduled competition is not on the list.  I attended the match against UW-Milwaukee this past weekend and was informed the match time is set for 10am.

The Milwaukee side I watched this weekend was a minimally numbered squad of unskilled weaklings, not at all reminiscent of Milwaukee teams I recall from my past.  The New Boys had no problem dominating in this test but will not have it as easy against Whitewater.  Any and all alumni attendance will be greatly appreciated and will help set the tone for an intense, well executed match.  I am planning on attending and likely taking part in post match/homecoming festivities.  I will either head to Menomonie Friday night or early morning Saturday, anyone interested in carpooling from the Twin Cities area give me a shout and we can work out details.

If you are within earshot, or have been longing for a weekend of debauchery in the old stomping grounds, this will be a great weekend to make the trip and show support for the club!

Remember,

If you can play a strong defense, that is make your one-up tackles and get Whitewater out of one of their biggest strengths, (Scrummaging), and get them to play into one of your strengths, (Line outs), that will nullify their big guys... Also producing quick clean ball at breakdowns, you can beat anyone.

If ya have a good kicker, take your shots at posts, this will also slow down the pace or tempo of the entire match, and can be very disruptive especially if Whitewater is an up tempo team. Don’t confuse this with Stout still playing up tempo in the loose on offense and attacking and getting that one support player to one-up tackle that you made on defense.

Good Luck Gentlemen.

Jeff

PS: No chest-up tackles on these guys, see the hip, plant and drive thru the ball carriers.
