Subject: Modeling LID-Bioretention in SWMM
Hi all,
I'm modeling a subcatchment acting as a bio-retention in SWMM and I have
3 different subcatchments draining onto that bio-retention. Those 3
subcatchments are linked to a historical rainfall record. My question
is: Is the bio-retention subcatchment suppose to be linked into the same
rain gage as those 2 subcatchments or create a "null" rain gage and link
the bioretention to the "null" rain gage?
Thanks,
Ian Febrian

Fabian,
Best to add the raingage to the LID controls. After all, they have a
footprint and rain falls on them as well. If you use LID as a separate
catchment (which I recommend), then you should commensurately reduce the
contributing area in which it is located so you don't double count the
rainfall, small as it is in proportion to the runoff treated.

Bill L.
