Hello Ron;
Never thought of using SWMM for a dam-break analysis but apart from the
good refs & tools Derek R. listed, an European project - EU Concerted Action
on Dam Break Modelling (CADAM), produced quite a number of useful docs
including "Dambreak Modelling Guidelines & Best Practice", which may be
accessed here : http://www.hrwallingford.co.uk/projects/CADAM/CADAM/

The ICOLD Bulletin #111,1998: "Dam-Break Flood Analysis - Review &
Recommendations", sure worth going thru.

Best wishes,

Ron,
I have used the dam break feautures in HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS but have never
tried SWMM. The National Weather Service also has a few simplified models
(DAMBRK, SMPDBK, FLDWAV, and BREACH).

A few references which may help include:
Froelich (1995)
MacDonald / Langridge-Monopolis (1984)
Van Thun and Gillete (1990)
Hagen (1982)
Fread (1988)
Wahl (1998)

Wandering if anyone has tried using SWMM in a dambreak case, and any
suggested references?

Thanks

Subject: SWMM modeling of permafrost infiltration

Hello,

Does anyone have a good reference for modeling infiltration for regions tha=
t experience permafrost? I am modeling a region that experiences permafrost=
conditions through the winter and during the "spring melt" it experiences =
very low infiltration rates due to an impermeable frozen layer in the soil =
profile, I am trying to capture this phenomenon in my model but am having d=
ifficulties finding resources. Thanks :).
