Hi All,

I am having an issue while running multiple XP-RAFTS storms through Storm Injector. When I run a base climate case for my model (2016 IFDs), I am able to run multiple simulations consecutively, however when I try the same with a custom climate change event, all except one crash out.
I've narrowed this down to the temporary folder creation in the 'RAFTS Files' folder created by Storm Injector. When the 2016 IFDs are run, a temporary folder is created for each storm, which is then deleted afterwards. When I run the climate change scenario though, only one folder is created which is used for all storms. I believe this is causing the storms to crash and throw the error "severe (47) write to READONLY file".
Is there a work around for this or anything that you could suggest?

Thanks,
Kobe

Hi Kobe,

Thanks for your message and for the deep dive to help debug the issue. Can you run the climate change scenario runs with only one simulation at a time?

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, it runs one at a time, just takes excessive time for large simulations (ie multiple AEPs, durations & temporal patterns)

Kobe

Hi Kobe,

Thanks for your patience. I have confirmed this as a bug and fixed it for the next release.

As a workaround, if you ensure that the climate change prefix does not have a decimal point in it (such as by replaced ‘.’ with ‘pt’, then you should be able to run multiple RAFTS models simultaneously again.

Hi Chris

I’m running into the same issue discussed below however after removing the point (‘.’) from the prefix, I still seem to be having the issue.

Essentially, I’m trying to create storms for current day as scaled BOM IFD rainfall by SSP-4.5-Mid near term (2030) and need to do so for 63.2% AEP to 1% AEP point TPs.

So potentially this is occurring for the 63.2% AEP events because when the event IDs are generated, the ‘63.2pc’ part of the event ID still applies the point ‘.’ in the event naming. When attempting to run a full suite of 63.2% - 1% AEP events, the majority of them fail. When the 63.2% AEP events are removed from the event list generation, they all seem to run OK. If it is the point in the 63.2 that’s the issues, how do we create these events when pressing the ‘create storms’ button? If it’s another issue/bug, can you advise?

Thanks

Nic Smith
