I have a brand new mf232w printer using a Windows 10 OS. When I tried scanning with the MF scan utility I got this code. I went thru the various routines to solve this, uninstalled the driver and program for the printer, set printer as default, disabled Defender (I use Avast anyway). After the last, I am now able to scan once before getting the message. I restart the computer and can scan once more. Any ideas?
Update: It turns out that the scan didn't actually copy the image to the file. And now, the scan ends up with the code 11,244,0. It's even worse. I hooked up my old printer and tried to scan with scan software installed years ago. Nope. Same code.
Uninstalling Avast, restarting an retest. Just want to add that Avast has a proven track record of privacy concerns and causing more issues than the protection affords. Your choice of course. You'd be much better off using Bit Defender or even AVG over Avast.
Good news. I can scan using Windows Fax and Scan. So, I'm set for now. However, after having done everything you suggested, the problem persists. I ditched Avast, installed AVG and after many tries, ran the software disk that came with the printer. After that, I disabled AVG and tried to scan. No go. I enabled AVG and can print normally and scan only with the Windows scan program, which is fine.
However, I tried to use the software you directed me to at Canon and I don't think the software installed properly. I clicked on the "Canon MF Network Scanner Selector and nothing happened. Just poof and landed on the desktop.
I just wonder if the software isn't installing properly. When I click on toner status, I get nothing. I don't seem to have any utilities that would help me do something like adjust the darkness of print, something that I'd like to do.
Glad to hear you have some level of function. I would try to get the the printer and its software installed and functioning in an environment which is as unincumbered as possible. Remove your security software while troubleshooting and be as "plain vanilla" as possible while you attempt to resove your issues. Be systematic and solve one problem at a time, which might actually solve more that one problem.
Using the included CD for install can work, but isn't always best. Using the latest appilications if often best practice, unless you know of a reason why not to use the most up to date drivers. The issues you are having appear to be specific to your environment.
Many thanks for your help! I can do just what you suggest with a computer that has a fresh install of Windows 10. I bet it will work. I'll let you know how it goes. I agree with your analysis - specific to my environment. I was envisioning a goblin somewhere in the works while trying to complete an installation!
Progress. With a spare HDD I did a new installation of Windows 10. Right after that, I loaded up the drivers from disk (I know, I know, but I just never got anywhere with drivers from the Canon website). All went well. Now, I can scan with the MF Scan Utility. I can not get Toner Status - it just goes to a blank page - maybe because I am using the beginner cartridge? I also, can not see any utility for adjusting the lightness/darkness of the print. To be clear, when I hit Start and see a list of programs, I find "Canon" and under that - Manual_enu, MF Scan Utility, Readme and Toner Status. None of those takes me to a utility to fine adjust the printing characteristics. There is also the Canon Office Printer Utility. So, something (a gremlin) stopped me from being able to scan using MF Scan Utility and that gremlin has been conquered! Any help with my other gremlins would be appreciated. Am I simply missing a vital utility that is right in front of me? Thanks again. Can I try to download a specific utility from Canon?
For the finer controls, you'll need to open the Start menu, and click on Settings (the gear icon). In the Windows Settings menu, select Devices >> Printers & Scanners. Select the Canon MF232dw entry, then click on Manage >> Printing Preferences. This window will have the finer control for printing. Information about the printing preferences options may be found in the driver's online manual.
Hello we have two MF230 MFP-s. So I want to be able to scan on both devices from my computer. One is added since initial installation of drivers. I cannot find how to add another device to mf scan utility. Only one initial scanner is shown in MF scan utility and I can't find any "add" option
The MF scan utility does not give you an option to add a scanner. To switch between different scanners on your network, you can use the MF scanner selector. The scanner selector will appear in the lower right by the time. You can click on it and it will give you a list of MF scanners on your network and you can put a dot next to the want that you want to use. If the other scanner does not appear, you can download and install the drivers again so the computer can detect the network connection for the other scanner.
I have a CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner and I am using Windows 10. I can go to the Canon Utility and select it to scan. The scanner scans the photo/document, however once it has completed a scan a popup Canon IJ Scan Utility message comes up stating "An internal error has occured. Restart the computer, then try again. Code: 9,202,3". I restart the computer and the error continues. I am saving to my Pictures folder in My Documents. I have tried different selections (e.g. Auto Scan, Photo, Documents, etc.) with the same result. Please help! Thank you.
What I have found out is, after scanning a photo, if I move the photo from the saved location before closing the scanning software, I get the error message. This seems to have something to do with the editing software that Canon has set up to automatically open (My Image Garden) when the scaning software is closed. If I have moved the photo to another location, close the scanning software, I then get the error message.
With what I have been doing (scanning slides, over 1500 so far), I have a file set up that the scanner puts them in. After I scan each box/tray, I move them into there own file until I get done. After I realized that the error is from My Image Garden not being able to find the recently scanned photos/slides, I stopped worring about the error message.
nothing seems to resolve this issue.
I have other people with issues with canon and windows 10 as well. I'm getting the very distinct feeling that windows 10 integration and canon don't go hand in hand and that's a shame as it's really putting me off when it's time for me to pick my next brand of printer...

After upgrading the macOS operating system on my MacBook Pro to version Ventura 13.0, Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite is no longer able to communicate with my G7020 All-in-One printer. I can still print to the G7020 just fine. Moreover, the macOS operating system's own built-in scanning software is able to communicate with the G7020 and scan documents! But Canon's own scanning software cannot.
I noticed in the "Camera Software" area of this community message board system that several people have posted similar messages indicating that their Canon EOS Utility software is no longer able to connect to their Canon cameras after they upgraded their macOS operating system to version Ventura 13.0.
I should add that I did download the latest version of Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite (4.0.0a) to make sure that the software's own version was not an issue. It has the same prob.e with Ventura 13.0, and with the Ventura 13.0.1 minor update released today.
As you suggested, I disabled the IPv6 setting in my G7020's wired LAN connection. (I am not using the Wireless LAN or Wireless Direct capabilities; they are disabled.) That made no difference. When I try to scan I get the same error message as before.
I printed the network information, but the questions you asked for signal strength, etc., are for lines settings in the Wireless LAN, which I am not using; it is disabled. I am using a Wired LAN, and those settings do not exist in the Wired LAN settings. The printout of network settings does indicate that IPv6 is disabled in the Wired LAN.
I have exactly the same issue with my Canon Maxify GX7050 : since the MacOs update on my MB pro to ventura 13.0 (now running on 13.2.1) Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite is no longer able to communicate with my GX7050 All-in-One printer.
What I can't explain is that the Airprint scanner (from the MacOs printer settings) is working normally. This is however inconvenient to scan only with Airprint since I cannot correct properly the scans quality and I have scan traces that appears when I use the double-sided front document feeder (traces that I didn't have previously when Canon IJ scan utility Lite was working).
