I was looking over my notes for New Rome yesterday and realized I already have notes on a string of nine possible novels. If I wrote one every six months, I'd be done approximately February 2018.
It got me wondering: What's the longest series currently on SOL - either in terms of titles or sheer word volume? Specifically, I was thinking about series written by a single author although I suspect that without that restriction, something like the NiS "series" might take the crown.
Longest running ‘Serial’ on the site (Current) is ‘Arlene and Jeff’ by RoustWriter. It ran so far for 7 years. And has the most accesses. Roughly 2,235,000 words.
Longest running ‘Serial’ on the site (not current) is ‘Robin’ by john smith. It ran for 9.5 years. Roughly 1,597,000 words.
Longest running universe is indeed the Naked in School universe. From 2002 and still current. Roughly 5,940,000 words combined from multiple authors. That’s what’s on SOL. the ASSTR collection of the universe may be larger. I haven’t checked really as many aren’t allowed by our rules.
Largest serial on the site by volume is Déjà Vu Ascendancy. Roughly 3,750,000 words. I’ve never heard of a longer single volume work. Its size kills most ebook readers while trying to open the EPUB version from the site and no Kindle has been able to do it either so far (to my knowledge).
