Preparing files for Large Format Printing does not usually require the higher 300 dpi image files commonly associated with other printing methods. "Large" implies just that. 300 dpi images at large sizes can produce extremely large files - in the gigabytes range. This is usually not necessary and places extra burdens on all raster image processing systems (RIPs). You will find a wide range of opinions when researching this subject. When setting up images with the document size set at full size (the size of the printed product) it is only necessary to set the pixel size at 100 pixels/inch for most types of banners.

why don't you make it it in adobe indesign and place your graphics in the layout with your text. that is the correct way to create a banner. Photoshop is not a layout program, its for photo manipulation.
I work at a small ad agency. We have a client that is annoyed with us for providing working files of digital banners in Photoshop rather than InDesign. They, I think, work primarily in InDesign because they have to do a lot of print stuff, so that's what they're most familiar with. I use Photoshop for almost everything. And making digital banners (300x250, 728x90, etc.) in InDesign just strikes me as crazy. And if I did try to do that, I'd end up going back to Photoshop to do adjustment layers, clone stamping, retouching, etc. So why not just do the whole damn thing in Photoshop? Am I behind the times? Does InDesign have a lot more Photoshoppy features nowadays?
It's not compulsory to upload source files with your initial submissions, however it is encouraged, particularly if you are undergoing account verification so our team can assess the quality of your work. Please note, the client will not have access to those files unless you are selected as the winning design.
Designers should provide these files after being awarded a place payment (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc). Note that you are only required to upload the files once you have been selected as the winner of a project. If your design is selected, you agree to handover ownership of your designs to the client and the source files enable access to all the design elements you've created. Just zip it up and follow the steps to upload the files.

The dimensions of a banner files should be scaled 12 to 1 so that 1 foot equals 1 inch. For example, if a banner is ordered at 2' x 2' then the file itself should be created at 2" x 2" with a .125" (1/8") bleed on each edge for a final submitted dimension of 2.25" x 2.25".
For optimal print quality banner files should be submitted at 1200 resolution. Banners viewed from a distance may be submitted at lower resolutions and will appear clear. Depending on the distance the banner is being viewed from we recommend the following resolutions:
Overall any file submitted vector such as an EPS or PDF exported from Illustrator will produce the highest quality banner print. Please ensure that when submitting vector files you follow all of recommend guidelines for outlining fonts and flattening transparencies found here.
Yes, banner must be submitted with a .125" (1/8") bleed on every edge to allow any background texture or color to extend fully to the edge of your banner. Text must also be kept 1/8" inside the finished dimension to ensure that no text is trimmed or appears right along the edge of your banner.
