Windows 10 November 2019 Update[1] (also known as version 1909[2] and codenamed "19H2"[3]) is the eighth major update to Windows 10 as the cumulative update to the May 2019 Update. It carries the build number 10.0.18363.[4]

The first preview was released to Insiders who opted in to the slow ring on July 1, 2019.[5] The update began rolling out on November 12, 2019.[6] Notable changes in the November 2019 Update include:[7]

The update has reached end of service on May 11, 2021 for Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations editions.[8] The Enterprise, IoT Enterprise and Education editions have reached end of service on May 10, 2022.[9]

3. Mounting the .iso file using Windows Explorer. Then running setup.exe and performing an in-place upgrade from your current Win 10 ver. to 1909. Note that the upgrade will keep all your existing files and settings if performed properly.

I have checked these issues on a different (and clean) device which runs Windows 10 21H1, since lots of different topics were shared in this post, I have summarized all the information I have so far as follows, kindly please have a look, thanks!

To reproduce the following issues, you can use Windows 10 1909. Or if you have already updated to Windows 10 20H2 or later, please switch the Compatibility to use previous version of Microsoft Pinyin (in the bottom of the screenshot you shared previously about Pinyin options).

In total, there are five issues, the first three can be reproduced on both the new Windows 10 21H1 and the old Windows 10 1909; the last two can be reproduced on the old Windows 10 1909 and on the Windows 10 21H1 but you need to switch to use the previous version in the Microsoft Pinyin IME Compatibility setting.

As you can see, these cases are not rare cases. I believe (and have heard) many Chinese users (maybe also Japanese, etc. users) are bothered with these issues.
Kindly please spend some time on these issues. Sorry for causing you trouble and many thanks for your efforts on creating Obsidian as always! Hope to see these issues get solved soon!

What differentiates Windows 10 version 1909 technically from an earlier version? Why did Adobe decide to explicitly require it (and above) to run the latest Premiere Pro (and AE, Media Encoder, etc.).

I'm interested in this because we run 1803 at work and this is not something I have control over, it is managed by IT. Even for v15, 1903 and above were required, so we've been non compliant for quite a while now.

My theory is it's because Adobe's dev teams test the softwares on (up to) these builds and therefore cannot guarentee compatibility with earlier versions but if someone from Adobe knows of an other more specific reason I'd be interested to know.

You both make good points thanks for your replies. And with that I just realized we're using a Windows 10 build that is no longer supported since May 2021! That sure could explain why Adobe has removed it from its bare minimum build requirement page.

Hmm, did you checkout the sources in the correct mode? It could be that you checked out the sources with CRLF line endings rather than LF. I remember that there was something similar to this that I was hitting due to a bug in the location tracking work that IIRC @David_Ungar2 was working on.

I am getting the same error on the master branch as well. I tried to compare my logs with the CI build and your azure pipeline logs but was not able to see any major different expect the failures on my end.

Cant really tell from just the snippet. I would try to reproduce the build at the exact revision + version of VS2019. You could try building the compiler without assertions (though, I do generally build with assertions, so Im not sure why you are hitting an assertion when the other builds do not).

However, I have noticed a difference between my logs and CI logs. I see a few things that are disabled in CI are enabled in my build as you can see below in the output. I don't know how it got enabled if you can tell me how to disable them, I can try to build. Or it doesn't affect the build.

I faced exactly the same problem just today. (I'm newbie and followed swift/WindowsBuild.md at main apple/swift GitHub and swift/utils/build-windows-toolchain.bat) Could somebody explain what's wrong and how to fix?

The build you are doing is a debug build, I suspect that there are more issues lurking that are unknown/unresolved, and so you will have to debug those and work from there. There have been many patches in the past to fix latent issues, and I suspect that you have found another.

It is worth mentioning that OEMs have access to our generic drivers' database and they can grab, customize and make public newer drivers, so we recommend you contacting ASUS* and request a newer driver in case of issues persists. Also, if Windows is still pushing to update the driver via Windows update (which we are not sure where that driver is coming from since driver version 26.20.100.732 is not one of the generic drivers available at downloadcenter.intel.com/ ) we recommend you to check this behavior further with Microsoft Support.

Actually the Update is failing with the below error, and sometimes it updates successfully but next moment if I check it says Failed and the reason shows account locked. Whereas I've also checked the account in local machines its not locked.

Set this new account in the updating policy (in SEC), this will send down a new updating policy to all the clients. Do they then all update OK? If not, what is in the alupdate log [ -us/36262#ALUpdate.log] of the failing client?

this is strange as the accounts mentioned are apparently the local SophosSAU accounts created by the installer (with User cannot change password and Password never expires set). Does this affect all endpoints and when did this start?

the account in local machines its not locked
As only AutoUpdate uses this account and should "know" the correct password I can't see why the lockout should occur in the first place. The lockout time is set with the Account Security Policy (minimum one minute) so they might get unlocked automatically.
AFAIK AutoUpdate nevertheless tries to make the connection and updates should succeed if there is no other issue. Are the endpoints shown as up to date in the Console?

This is not affecting all users at same time but its affecting most of the users timely. The account gets locked out itself and throws an error. With some users its working fine with the default installer created.

why it's getting locked
that's the puzzling part. AutoUpdate either has the correct password or not. In the latter case it should report the 1909 (or a 1326 - incorrect password) for every update attempt.

It looks like an account lockout policy is in effect with a finite lockout duration that causes the accounts to get unlocked. This does not explain what gets them locked though. By default workstations don't audit failures, if failure auditing is turned on the Security Event Log should show which process is responsible.

Support for Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) 2 distros is being backported to Windows 10 version 1903, and 1909! Yes, you read that right. We heard how much you liked WSL 2 and wanted to expand its accessibility, and over the last few months we worked on bringing it back to 1903 and 1909.

We are Ty (Tito) Citrin, a PM, and Mitchell Minkoff, an engineer, both working in Windows Servicing. Together we proudly help keep customers protected and productive by working with feature teams like the WSL team to ship security fixes that address Windows vulnerabilities and cool new features just like this!

WSL 2 is a new version of the architecture in WSL that changes how Linux distributions interact with Windows. Each Linux distribution can run as WSL 1 or as WSL 2, and can be switched between at any time. All the features for WSL 2 distros will now be available for an even larger user base:
