Start with DataOnatp 7G aggregate comes in picture so now raid groups
are part of aggregate instead of volume if we configure aggregate.
Earlier with traditional volume we reserve some percentage of space
out of the volume for snapshot and this is same case with flex volume
also. But aggregate also reserve some percentage of space for snapshot
at aggregate level.
So I have two question related to this snapshot reserve space at
aggregate level
1) Why it is reserved or can we use it for any purpose.
2) can we control this reserve percentage.

The default reserve space for Snapshot, of an aggregate is 5%.. you can customize it.

it can be used for aggregate  backup and for syncmirror

can I access this snapshot for any restore ?

Syncmirror is a optional product which ensures data is available and up-to-date at all times by maintaining 2 copies of data online within a filer (this is a netapp definition).
I don't think we have a customer in India who has this product in production.

yes, you can change the Aggr snap shot setting:
snap reserve -A {aggr name} 0
snap sched -A {aggr name} 0 0 0

to list the Aggr snap shots
snap list -A {aggr name}

To restore Aggr snap shots
you can use the snap restore command

Cheers...Jay
