7 get RI in Nedumbassery human trafficking case

Kochi Seven accused, including three women, involved in the sensational Nedumbassery human trafficking case have been awarded rigorous imprisonment (RI) by CBI court, Kochi. Judge S Santhosh Kumar, however, acquitted six persons who were accused of assisting the sex racketeers in Gulf countries and within the state. Suresh K V (52) from Valappad, Thrissur, Lissy Sojan (47) from Thalappilly, Thrissur, Sethulal (51) from Lokamalleswaram, Thrissur, Anil Kumar V (45) from Vattapara, Thiruvananthapuram, Bindu P V (31) from Kattapana, Idukki, Santha (46) from Punaloor, Kollam and Maneesh AP (36), Kodungalloor, Thrissur are the convicts.

16-year-old sets herself on fire after sexual assault in Jaipur

Jaipur: A 16-year-old girl set herself on fire after being sexually assaulted by her 35-year-old neighbour http://stoptrafficking.in/Article-16-year-old-sets-herself-on-fire-after-sexual-assault-in-Jaipur2.aspxinside her house within the limits of Murlipura police station area in the city on Friday. The minor, who sustained 60% burn injuries, was admitted to the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, where her condition is said to be critical. Police have arrested the accused, Sanjay Singh, and booked him under the POCSO Act. Sources said Singh barged into the girls house when she was alone and tried to rape her, but she was rescued by her brother.

Pakistan acquits 12 men accused of child sex abuse

Lahore: A Pakistani court acquitted 12 men of child sex abuse and blackmail charges on Saturday, the latest verdict in a massive paedophilia scandal that rocked the country in August 2015. The abuse and extortion scandal, which authorities have called the largest in Pakistans history, allegedly involved hundreds of victims in Punjab province. Two of the accused were jailed for life in April last year. Judge Chaudhry Ilyas acquitted the men of sexual abuse of a young boy and making a video to blackmail his family, a court official told AFP.

62-year-old held for sexually abusing two minors

The Kuzhithurai All Women Police have arrested a 62-year-old man for sexually abusing two sisters, aged 9 and 10, after luring the poor girls with sweets and snacks over the past one year. The hunt is on to nab two more who were also reportedly sexually abusing the girls in similar fashion for the past one year. The victims are undergoing treatment in the Government Medical College Hospital at Aasaaripallam. Police said 62-year-old Devaraj of Kuttakuzhi near Thiruvattar on Thursday took the girls, his neighbours, to the first floor of the house of J. Tensingh (45) of the same area after offering them sweets. On seeing the old man taking the girls in a suspicious manner, the neighbours alerted the girls’ parents, who rushed to the spot and rescued the children from the old man.

15-year-old raped by three in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar

New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men in a flat in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar on Tuesday evening. One of the accused is the boyfriend of the survivor and is still absconding. Police said that two suspects have been arrested, and cops are looking for the survivor’s friend. DCP (northeast) Ajit Kumar Singla said that a case under sections of rape and POCSO act has been registered. A preliminary probe has revealed that the girl was in a relationship with the 21-year-old boy for the past six months. The accused used to meet the girl outside her school after classes and became friends with her.

Philippines gives Aussie life sentence for child trafficking

Manila: A Philippine court has sentenced an Australian man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty on human trafficking and child pornography charges. Drew Frederick Shobbrook, 51, listened quietly as the verdict was read in a court in Cebu city on Tuesday. Footage shot by local broadcaster ABS-CBN of the proceedings showed Leslie Ann Fernandez, a Philippine national co-accused in the case, crying next to Shobbrook. Both were arrested during a 2013 operation in which 15 girls were rescued by Philippine authorities.
