Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I once again cannot thank all of you enough for your continued prayers and support for my cousin Jared. Your faith in the power of Christ to heal the sick not only encourages many but gives strength to Jared and his family, encouraging them in their own faith and allowing them to share with you in the same hope: that through Christ Jared will be healed. I encourage all of you to continue spreading the word about Jared, not only so that many more can join in our solidarity through prayer but also that God may move his Spirit through us all, strengthening us and making to us known the Kingdom of God.
I am confident of your faithfulness and belief in prayer because God has heard our prayers and is healing Jared! I found out today, contrary to what I wrote a few days ago, that Jared indeed awoke from his coma on Monday, a direct response to the prayers that we all have been constantly and earnestly lifting to God! Though Jared is still not able to speak, he now wakes up every now and then, even opening his eyes and following people in the room with them! Even more praise to God is that because he is now out of his coma, he has now been taken off of all life support, breathing by his own power and even processing food. Now he has only an IV in his arm to keep him nourished as he still cannot eat. Perhaps the best news of all is that the doctors are beginning to plan his rehabilitation, showing that they are confident now that Jared is no longer within risk of dying! Praise be to God forever for directly answering our prayers!
Though Jared is considerably better than he was a week ago, he still has much progress to make. Though he is now out of the canyon, he still is not out of the woods. Even though Jared is technically out of his coma, he still is not able to speak or interact, most likely because he is still just incredibly weak from the accident and is still in the process of dramatic healing. Furthermore, we found out that Jared now has come down with a Staph infection, further making him ill. Though the doctors do not believe this will be fatal, it is still hampering Jared's ability to heal and is weakening his immune system and body.
Therefore, please pray for the following. First please pray that Christ continue to lay his hand on Jared and further awaken him from his coma, invigorating Jared's mental capacity and giving them the ability to interact with those around him. Secondly, pray that Christ heal Jared's staph infection, ridding his body of all obstacles for healing. Pray for continued strength and comfort for Jared's family who remains by his side constantly. Pray for them to remain faithful and praise God constantly for delivering Jared's life. Finally, please pray for wisdom to all the medical personnel, that God may grant them the wisdom to do what is best for Jared and that God may work his miracles through them.
Through this entire experience, Christ has been showing his power, glory, and love to all of us, not only through the faithfulness of all of you and your prayers, but also in the love that you constantly pour out and by the continued healing of Jared. Let us therefore continue in this way, that as a result of our faith, Christ may continue the healing of Jared and the restoration of the life he once had.
Finally, some of you have inquired as to whether it would be possible to send letters either to Jared or to his family. Because of the situation, it is difficult to get correspondence directly to Jared or his family at the hospital. However, my family has volunteered to be a courier and has volunteered to hand deliver any messages that any of you would like to send. Therefore, if you would like to write to Jared and his family showing support and offering prayers, please address your envelopes to the following:
Margaret, Jay and Jared Keadle
2434 Lansford Ave.
San Jose, CA 95125.
Any messages sent to that address will go to my family and they will make sure to personally give them to the Keadles when they visit (typically once a week).
This is the promise you have been given, that "whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24. May the news of the miracle of Jared's continued healing continue strengthen your faith and belief and may God continue to move his Spirit through all of us.
In Christ Always,
Mike Masten
