Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I would like to start by once again thanking all of you for your sincere hearts and earnest prayers during this tragic time. The overwhelming response in prayer and love has truly brought light to the power of the body of Christ and its ability to come together and react in difficult times. Together in our worship and prayer we are the true church and are representing the body of Christ at its best. Thank you for your faith and love, and most of all for your belief in the unyielding power of Christ to heal the sick and make the broken whole.

As of last night, Jared's life is still hanging by a string. The bleeding in his head persists and continues to create additional problems for the doctors to fight. Yesterday Jared once again went into surgery and had pieces of his skull removed in order to lessen the pressure on the brain due to swelling. In addition to the head surgery, the doctors found that an artery in Jared's brain was beginning to swell shut, putting Jared at risk for a stroke. The doctors have since been able to insert a tube into Jared with medicine to reduce the swelling but the situation still remains critical.

As you can tell, the situation with Jared remains absolutely critical and his life still hangs in the balance. Therefore it is important that we all keep on fervently praying for God's healing of Jared and not let up in our cries. We are like runners in a race with the finish still far off in the distance. If a runner is to win the race, he must continue strongly and persistently, never letting down his guard and never forgetting his aim. So also must we be in prayer. We must remember to pray constantly and always remember what we pray for: for the successful healing of Jared so that he may live. We must not let up, we must not give up, but remember that through dedication and faith we will achieve our goal. As Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."

Our God is a faithful God and will hear our prayers. Believe in what you pray, have no doubt at all, and it will be. This is the promise we have received from Christ himself. I know that God will work, and already is working, mightily through this situation. Please continue to spread the word, enlisting the prayers of additional brothers and sisters so that we may save Jared's life. Finally, thank you to all who have written, your messages continue to be a source of strength and comfort to Jared's family. Attached to this email is a picture of Jared given to us by his family. May it help you in your prayers.

In Christ,

Mike Masten
