BEHIND THE SCENES AT LAIKA: MAKING PARANORMAN
Saturday, November 17, 3 p.m.
Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 SW Park Avenue
Following up on CORALINE (2009), LAIKA’s second triumph, ParaNorman (2012), is currently dazzling audiences worldwide. As a misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, Norman Babcock takes on ghosts, zombies, and, worst of all, grown-ups in order to save his town from a centuries-old curse in this exceptional 3D stop-motion animation from a studio rich with world-class talents. Today, two of the studio’s top animators will take us behind the scenes at LAIKA to get a view of the extraordinary efforts involved in the making of this remarkable production. Come meet Emmy Award-winning animation supervisor Brad Schiff, whose credits include CORPSE BRIDE, CORALINE, and FANTASTIC MR. FOX, and puppet fabrication creative supervisor Georgina Hayns, who in addition to working on LAIKA’s two features has worked on such features and shorts as CORPSE BRIDE, MARS ATTACKS!, and the Academy Award-nominated PERIWIG MAKER. Production puppets will also be on display. (90 mins.)

Thank you for letting me know about this one Aaron! My son and I both went and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Did you go? (I looked for you there, but didn’t spot you!)
I appreciate you keeping me in the loop on these.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Aaron!
I’m doing all right. J I wish I was able to work on a new project, but I’ve got a senior in high school and that fact seems to be taking over my schedule. I’d forgotten how many activities happen in one’s senior year! But that’s partly because of the college applications, too…
How about you? How are you and what are you up to these days?
Thanks again for keeping me up to date,
-Dixie
