This is a forum for discussion of subsea oil well blowouts and
ways to improve prevention and response. Our focus is on technology,
but we do understand that technology alone can't provide a solution.
It must be designed with a clear understanding of the human factors
that will exist, perhaps even decades from now, when the current
disaster is long forgotten.

We welcome students, teachers, and anyone with an interest in
technology, but especially those with particular expertise in this
area. Designing good solutions often requires both experts and those
with a broader understanding of issues outside of an expert's
specialty.

We welcome disagreement, and even vigorous argument, but we will not
tolerate disrespect. If you disagree with someone, don't try to win
the argument. Try to find the truth. There is a difference.
