Star Music (stylized in lowercase; also known as Star Records[a] and corporately as Star Recording, Inc.) is a record label in the Philippines owned and operated by media conglomerate ABS-CBN Corporation.[1] It was formerly a separate company operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of ABS-CBN until 2013 when it was merged to ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc.[citation needed] It is now a division of ABS-CBN Music, a division of ABS-CBN for its music. Its publishing and distribution subsidiary in the country is Star Music Publishing (formerly Star Songs, Inc.) and has over one thousand songs in its catalog including the classic song "Anak" by Freddie Aguilar.[2][3]
Star Music was founded on February 20, 1995, as Star Recording, Inc. with Star Records as its label. The record label was created by ABS-CBN Corporation to diversify its functions from a broadcast media to a full entertainment company. Commercial operations of the label started in September 1995, signing an exclusive distribution agreement with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines in the entire country, except in Metro Manila. Due to its distribution agreement with Sony, Star Records endured problems with distributing titles in Metro Manila. In August 1996, the record label engage into licensing deals in order to strengthen its production base and gain entry into the Metro Manila market. It first signed a 3-year license agreement with JML Records, a local rock label. The deal enabled the label to gain control of its catalogue of 30 titles. Later, Star Records signed deals with foreign-independent labels such as Beaver Music of the Netherlands, Music of Life of the United Kingdom, and Rox of Belgium.[5]
In March 2005, responding to Perceptions Inc.'s Tara Na, Biyahe Tayo, Star Records teamed up with the Philippine Tourism Authority (now the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority) for an all-star version of their Pilipino Sa Turismo'y Aktibo tourism anthem which featured most of the label's artists such as Gary Valenciano, Jamie Rivera, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Vhong Navarro, Piolo Pascual, Erik Santos, Gloc-9, Sheryn Regis and Heart Evangelista, with additional speech by some of ABS-CBN's biggest stars at that time including Jericho Rosales, Kris Aquino, Claudine Barretto, Jiro Manio and Charo Santos-Concio. However, the song's lack of extensive support by the mother network led to its obscurity.[6]
In 2013, Star Recording, Inc. and Star Songs, Inc. were both merged to ABS-CBN Film Productions. In 2014, the recording company started to adapt the Star Music name and logo, with Star Recording, Inc. still used as corporate name and the Star Records name is alternatively used nowadays on some contexts. In the same year, they launched their very own music downloading website. This is also the time where Star Music started to release their songs on iTunes, Spotify, and other music downloading and streaming websites and applications. They also revamped their YouTube channel as a response to the current trend in the consumption of music and video contents on the internet.

I have been playing guitar for over 11 years; and this January I decided to take lessons again. I felt a desire to learn more from someone versus YouTube videos. A friend recommended that I take lessons with Chuck Stohl of Damien fame. Without a doubt one of the best decisions I've ever made. Chuck's passion for the guitar and music is so infectious that it made me fall in love with the guitar again. Plus he's an overall amazing guy to hang one-on one with. He's also a lot of fun to go to concerts with. If you want to take guitar lessons, take them with Chuck at All Star Music!
I signed up for cello lessons and I picked All Star because I had received a postcard some time ago. The staff are very knowledgeable and the cello looks like new. I met my teacher and am very excited to start lessons and my husband will take guitar lessons at the same time. Great place.

The first thing I noticed was that the color scheme had changed. Gone were the bright-colored, outdated murals that were replaced with brown paneling. The colors changed from bright blue, red and green to brown, soft blue and mustard yellow. For the most part the changes seemed good. As a Pooh Sized person though I hated the new chairs. They have thin, little spindly legs and each time I sat down I could feel the legs spread out. I held my breath each time thinking I was going to break a chair in front of hundreds of people.

If you are a high school director who has been considering participating in the American Classic Madrigal Festival, do it. Participation in this festival over the last few years has made me a better teacher, musician, and conductor. The weeks that we spend intensely preparing for it are some of my most edifying, fulfilling, and downright fun weeks of the year. It is a top notch event every year, competitive yes, but also so very warm and supportive. You should go for it! (San Antonio Madrigal & Chamber Choir Festival)
Kathryn (KC) Thompson is in her first year as an orchestra director at Moorhead High School, bringing with her 10 years of experience as the high school orchestra director for Pocatello/Chubbuck School District in Pocatello, ID. She was previously a music coordinator for her music department in Idaho, and was the Gem State Area President for the Idaho Music Educators Association. Expanding into the professional orchestral world, she has held the music librarian position for the Idaho State Civic Symphony, as well as personnel manager for the Idaho Falls Symphony. She holds a Master of Music Education degree from Idaho State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Rich Gonzales serves as Director of Orchestras at Sheyenne High School in West Fargo, ND. In addition to three curricular ensembles, he directs the Sheyenne Chamber Orchestra, The Mustang Quartet, and the pit orchestra for the winter musical. Rich maintains a private double bass studio and performs with several organizations, including the FM Symphony, Opera and Ballet. His passion is building positive relationships with students and making music for the community. Rich is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and has since returned to his alma mater to earn his Master of Music in Music Education. Mr. Gonzales is a member of the North Dakota String Teachers Association (NDSTA), North Dakota Music Educators Association (NDMEA), and is currently campaigning for the NDMEA East Orchestra Representative seat.

Remember that lovely Cast Member at the front desk who helped me when I first arrived? He told me he switched us from Calypso Building 1 to Calypso Building 10. Well, as I started walking towards Building 1, I realized our room was still in Building 1. No problem! I just had to switch directions.
Felicia and I finally reunited that evening, since she had a later flight. Thanks to the spacious room, we were able to stretch out, chat, and relax. It was a nice way to start what would be a busy trip.
All Star Music Resort, surprisingly, handles that a little better than other value resorts. While the lobby is far from incredible, there are a few nods to musicians in the form of photos throughout. It did help that the resort had Christmas decor in the lobby, adding some life to the area. Otherwise, I think that area would look pretty dull.
Finding a family suite (1-bedroom) is not an easy task at Disney World, especially if you are looking to save money. Art of Animation offers the next cheapest family suite. While those rooms are nicer than what is offered at All Star Music, they also cost at least $100 more per night. If you go away from the on-site hotels and start looking at Disney Springs options, there are a few 1-bedroom suites that will be at a similar rate or cheaper than All Star Music. Those resorts are probably slightly nicer but you are sacrificing some convenience as far as transportation goes.
