As requested, here's some info about Sapporo Pride:
I know this is early notice, but you may want to mark your calendars
now for the 12th annual Sapporo Rainbow March. This gay pride parade
is the longest-running in Japan, and it's also one of the biggest.
People fly up here from Tokyo and other parts of Japan just to attend.
Both queer, bi and straight people are welcome to join in!
This year the parade will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. It starts
at 1PM from the 6-block of Odori Park.
A few hours before the parade starts, there will be music and stuff at
the stage on the 6-block of Odori. The parade route ends back at the
same place, where there will be more events. There will no doubt be
crazy costumes, lots of cross-dressing, and hot people everywhere.
Finally, in the evening after the parade, there's a big party at one
of the downtown nightclubs. I'm not sure yet where it'll be, but it's
one of the best parties you'll ever attend in Sapporo!
Last year there were 2 or 3 drag shows during the party, and lots and
lots of people showed up and danced till dawn. Some of the best DJs in
Hokkaido/Japan play great music, and there's usually a cool light show
to boot.
