Hello musicians,

Here's the details for this Saturday's concert.
Our web page advertising it:

Event:  Mount Olive Township's Sesquicentennial Bash
When:  Saturday 9/18/2021
Call time:  1:30pm.
Show time:  2:00pm
Load time:  12:15 at the chapel to load up our percussion and get it to the venue by 1:00.  Helpers appreciated.

30 Flanders Rd, Budd Lake NJ 07828
We will be in a tent near the Stone Barn
Directions:  From our rehearsal hall, take 46 East to the traffic light just past Sinclair gas station in Budd Lake and make a Right onto Mt Olive Rd.  About a 1/2 mile down, the road will curve to the left and turn into Flanders Road.
About another 1/2 mile, and the entrance to Turkey Brook Park will be on your right.

From the main entrance to Turkey Brook park, follow the loop road around the park.  You'll go about 90% around, as if you're going to leave again, when you get to the Stone Barn.  There is a tent outside the barn, which is where we will be playing.  I've been told that there will be people and/or directions from there indicating where to park.  If you have large equipment, unload it at the tent and then proceed to the designated parking lot.

Attire:  Concert dress is tuxes for the gents, and Black & White solids for the ladies.
Considering it is expected to be in the mid-80's Saturday, we will forego the jackets.  So gents, please have black shoes/pants, white shirt & bow tie.
I'll have an extra bow tie or two if anyone needs one.

Repertoire:
  1. Star Spangled Banner
  2. Superman Returns
  3. Wedding Day at Troldhaugen
  4. Gershwin, by George
  5. Masquerade Waltz
  6. Go West!
  7. The Sound of Music
  8. Children of Sanchez
  9. Entry March of the Boyars
  10. Pirates of the Caribbean
  11. America the Beautiful
A few more notes:
  • There is a $5.00 admission for the event, but I've been promised that by coming in before 1:30 the fee won't be collected.  If you hit any trouble, just say "I'm with Stone Soup Symphony"  DO NOT pay the admission.
    I
believe Friends & Family can skip the $5.00 if they come in with you before 1:30.  To be honest, I'm unclear about this.  We never have an admission, so I'm not used to working with one.  Non-musicians coming along should be prepared to pay the $5.00 if necessary.
  • Any audience should bring their own lawn chair.  It's more of a festival sort of thing, so there won't be chairs for the audience.
  • My current understanding is that we need to have our show DONE by 3:30 because there's another (loud) event starting at that time.  We may have Ed cut out the banter and/or possibly cut out a piece of music.
Short version... be prepared for a change in music order.
  • We are welcome to enjoy the rest of the fair once we're done.
Any issues, reach out to me.  908-509-1047
I look forward to making music with you on Saturday!
