New Player with Wiki Woes

Hey folks, I've been trying to join up on the wiki, but wikidot keeps
giving me the message "Could not send the email - please try again
later". I've got a character sheet for my Wizard on Mythweavers

url] and am otherwise raring to go. I've been trying since last night
to join wikidot and still no joy.

I also have a couple of questions...

Does starting gold as per the rules in the PHB means the average gold
given as opposed to rolling? Seems likely, but cannot hurt to check.

Do wizards and sorcerers have to pay to have a familiar? By the rules
it costs 100gp, but in my experience most DMs simply allow wiz/sorcs
to start with them for free - and more importantly if you don't ask
you don't get!

Ah, okay got it, it won't send email to my hotmail account for some
reason, but google mail works fine.

The starting gold is the amount in ( ) on the first page of the
equipment.

After a little bit of back and forth no I will not allow a free or
even a reduced Familiar. The cost is what it is to purchase one.

Excellent! I'll get my character put up on the wiki. As for
familiars I feel the same way myself to be honest, being a bit of a
stickler for the rules - and a firm believer that familiars are
amazing. You would be amazed how many people don't even realize you
are supposed to pay for a familiar - or at least I am - so it's
usually worth checking.

My understanding is that there is going to be a game on Tuesday or
Wednesday night is that right Arkaris?

I believe so, yes if Arkaris would put the date of the game on the
google group, that would be nice.

I will have a firm date tonight, it will be 9 CST (7 PST). The girl
will tell me what night she is willing to give up. It seems most
people will be available both days...

Right well Relf, my 1st level Wizard - because I enjoy being a
glorified crossbow wielding commoner for 90% of 1st level play - is up
on the wiki. I will add that I wrote my description before searching
for a picture to represent him for the wiki, if we use images for the
game I'll use the bonded summoner mini pic.

I thought it was funny as well. I hate that guy... he is so damn
annoying... british "comedians"... Austrailians are so much better at
it...

He's actually grown on me I used to loathe him, but then I started
watching a series of shows he did - can't remember why it was probably
on while I was writing. But it did seem to fit for the character and
was within my rudimentry photoshopping skills.

I'm sure he's a great guy and all if you like his comedy good for
you. I just have too much republican blood in my viens to listen to
him. Bill Mayer I find funny on the left side, his HBO stand ups have
been really good.

I just don't find his strawman arguments creative or ingenious, I find
them more like a hot iron being plunged in to my eye.

Ah, no idea about his politics I just find him funny, most of the
stuff I've seen is just ludicrous and self deprecating - I also
enjoyed that film he was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I don't think
I'd take advice from the bloke lol.

Yeah he was funny in that movie. I watched him do a stand up special
on comedy central, he was pretty funny.
