Ello,

I created this topic with the intention of pointing out what we could
and could not use. As the game progresses I know more thing will
become avalible for use to use, and will be added to the wiki to note.
However I wish to question a few things to clear the air, so we're all
on the same page (in the same book/s). I plan on listing what I know
is availble to us, and question what I'm not sure about. In the House
Rules section, under charcter creation it refrences that we are to use
the Players handbook 3.5 (PHB). After we know, I plan on (trying)
creating a new page in the Charcter Creation section, so that we all
know what's cannon (^_^) and not.

So.
Player's Handbook.
Feats-Y
Spells-Y
Items-Y

Unearthed Arcana
Flaws-Y
Traits-(Not sure?)

Also, I wish to ask that when new material comes available that we
know, so that all of us can benifit from the opening of said material,
not just one. I understand that there are Case by Case scanerio's, but
one I agree with, three or four i'd start questioning.

When one source material becomes available to a single character, and
they take it, it will become available to all characters, as they will
have the ability to teach it.

I am accepting Flaws and traits, but I am hesitant about their abuse.

I think it's fairly difficult to abuse flaws in an - essentially - PHB
only game. It is of course a given that characters will choose flaws
which are not crippling to their character, Relf has taken pathetic
lowering his strength from a 9 to a 7, and noncombatant in exchange
for improved init and extend spell. I have already found the lessened
carrying capacity problematic - had to have a buddy carry his empty
flasks (in case he sees anything interesting), and the perusing spells
I can pretty much eliminate most touch spells - and there are some
very nice ones. I've found in play that flaws are not a big deal
until they are, and then they bite you in the butt hard. In my last
Dark Sun game almost all of my players had murky eyed as a flaw, it
often seems the least brutal, but face a few wizards, fight in a few
deserts and you'll begin to look askance at your shiny feat.

Flaws, I always considered them to be a convinient way to get a new
feat or two at the start of creation. Of course if you plan to be a
fighter and have the Pathetic flaw, the feat you got is well earned.

I always look at it this way would the reverse of the flaw be a good
feat? +3 to a save, yup. Double speed yup. +2 to melee attacks yup.
+2 to a stat hell yes. But yes they are a convenient way to get extra
feats to. Personally I'm a fan I think they increase power levels
mildly - in a PHB only game more so all holds barred - and they create
some interesting situations in play in my experience.

Of course I have 2 flaws on Relf so my objectivity might be in
question, lol.

I wish I had known about flaws and traits being available when I made
Haehoth. He definately would've taken the vulnerable flaw, and
probably meager fortitude. He's big and strong, but not very tough
and prone to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

So Ark, let me know if it's ok to add 1 or 2 to him. If not, that's
cool too.

Everyone who has already created a character is free to add no more
than 2 flaws. I do plan to take advantage of flaws and will create
encounters specifically to attack characters flaws. So be careful
that everyone does not stack up on the same ones.

Conrad already has several non-gameplay worthy flaws. A terrible sense
of humor and a bit on the sheltered spoiled side.
