Please see the email below regarding the proposed partially elected school board from Councilman Marks.
Thanks.
ACTION NEEDED ON SCHOOL BOARD REFORM!!
As you
know, there is strong, bipartisan support for reforms that would allow
the voters of Baltimore County to elect some members of the Board of
Education. It is very important to bring local acountability to the
School Board.
I have joined three other members of
the Baltimore County Council in support of elected representation on
the School Board. That's a majority of the Baltimore County Council -
two Democrats and two Republicans.
Legislation has
passed both houses of the General Assembly, with bipartisan support
from legislators throughout Baltimore County - but the bill is stuck in
committee because the County Executive does not support the legislation.
A
30 second call to the office of the chairman of the Ways and Means
Committee, Sheila Hixson, would send a powerful message. Her phone
number is
410-841-3469. The General Assembly session ends on
Monday, so this needs to happen this weekend. Simply say you are a
Baltimore County resident who wants House Bill 481 to become law.
I
am asking you to take a little bit of time this weekend to please make
this phone call. WE ARE SO CLOSE. Thank you very much.
County
Councilman David Marks
