Hiding PARENT SKUs from Purchase Orders?

Is there a setting to prevent Parent SKUs from appearing on Purchase Orders?

Thanks -- Problem with that is our CSRs wouldn't be able to use the dropdown menus to choose product options for manual orders. They would have to directly key in the sub-SKUs.

The problem we're having is when we automatically create POs, if we have a Parent SKU that for one reason or another has sales history (usually due to a past mistake), it will add them to the PO to be ordered.
