Google Workspace mail server setup

Hi,

We just switch our mail provider to Google Workspace and need some help setting up so our SEOM can send emails. Does anyone able to set this up successfully?

Server is smtp.gmail.com. Port is 465. Is that what you're looking for?

Something to keep in mind is Google is phasing out support for "less secure" third-party apps.  Gmail accounts won't be able to use them after May 30th.  They haven't announced a date when Google Workspace will follow suit, but it's coming eventually per the link below.  

We're currently looking for a good replacement to send email from SEOM ourselves.  (If anyone has any good suggestions let me know!)

Hi Mike,

Sure, a state of the art solution is Gmail api integration to send emails from SEOM. I have integrated mailersend.com with MS Access 2019 (with analytics to track delivery and open ) and I have capability to integrate Gmail api with SEOM 32 bit. Please feel free for more details

I'd highly recommend SparkPost.  They've been very reliable and are priced pretty low.  They're also compatible with External Stack Controller, which we still use.

Here is the Google fix for less secure app issue which I have successfully applied to many SE clients. Google has totally depreciated access to account with user name and password while accessing indirectly from any program like MS Access, Excel etc using VBA. The fix is to create a Machine Specific Google App and a small change in SE can restore sending emails from SE using Google account credentials. I can assist to configure it.

For more powerful and robust results with TLS enabled the left behind technologies are Powershell via VBA to send emails and the state of the art technology is REST api integration with Google Mail using VBA.

I recommend Mailersend.com with 12K monthly emails in free plan ($1 for extra 1K) and Mailchimp with 10K in free plan. I have configured Mailersend.com for many SE clients working like a charm.
