All,

RE: Credit card processing through Stoneedge and paypal pro.

Anyone have any recent insight to Stoneedge and this email below?  I had talked to Stoneedge (Justin) a couple of weeks ago and he said "My engineering team has assured me that there will be no impact to any 7.X clients".  But since I got this email today I'm now wondering.  Anyone have insights as to what needs to happen?

Email from Paypal:

"I hope you’re well. I’m following-up the PayPal notice with additional details. In 2016, PayPal will make changes to how merchants interface with our touch points. PayPal is upgrading SSL certificates on all Live and Sandbox endpoints from SHA-1 to the stronger and more robust SHA-256 algorithm. Merchants will need to update their integration to support certificates using SHA-256. These requirements are not specific to PayPal but instead, driven by an increase in global internet security.

If you haven’t made the changes you will need to reach out to your cart partner/developer/integration support to schedule making the changes as soon as possible. Depending on when you can make the changes you may be impacted by the upcoming testing.

If you have additional questions, we recommend contacting your cart partner/developer/integration support directly. PayPal does not have visibility into your integration or endpoints. PayPal can only provide information and support on PayPal endpoints. Attached is a spreadsheet with detailed testing schedule.

SHA-256 upgrade is a significant update which cannot wait. This needs to happen in 2016 as mandated by industry standards. Here are some important items to keep in mind concerning this upgrade:

·         Because PayPal is unable to determine whether a merchant’s system is SHA-256 compatible, we’ll conduct brief rounds of testing starting on June 20, 2016.

·         If a merchant isn’t compatible by the testing date, they’ll experience a service disruption during the tests.

·         Merchants who we’ve identified as potentially not yet being compliant will be contacted by email to encourage them to make the necessary changes.

·         The final date for merchants to make this change is September 30.

In addition to the link below, developers can also access the PayPal details here; https://www.paypal-knowledge.com/infocenter/index?page=content&widgetview=true&id=FAQ1766&viewlocale=en_US"

Thank you,

*Over the course of 2016, PayPal will be working towards upgrading various SSL certificates. We’ve published the schedule of our service upgrade plan.  Please check our 2015-2016 SSL Certificate Change microsite for the most recent updates.
