We have an important announcement regarding your integration to UPS with the Stone Edge Order Manager.  If you use the UPS integration that is built-in to Stone Edge, officially known as the "UPS Online Tools" integration, there is a mandatory update to ensure that you will be able to ship after December 31st, 2018.

If you are effected you should have received the following message from UPS:
Reminder: Effective December 31, 2018 UPS® will disable all unsupported Developer Kit API URLs.
You are receiving this notification because our records indicate you are using an unsupported API URL: https://www.ups.com/ups.app/xml/ API name for UPS Developer Kit API transactions. Continued use of the URLs will subject your customers to unexpected outages and loss of packages with UPS.
To ensure you are using the correct URL for processing, we’ve made the latest version available in the Developer guide: https://onlinetools.ups.com/ API name. It should be used for all UPS Developer Kit API transactions.
Please verify with your IT resources that your application is using the supported production version of the URL, https://wwwcie.ups.com will remain unaffected.
For any technical questions or concerns, please submit your question via the UPS Technical support form or call 1-800-247-9035.
If you, or anyone in your company, has not received this email, and you are using an external/3rd party shipping solution like ShipRush or UPS Worldship, then you are not effected.

What is the fix?

Self-help Upgrade:  Earlier this month we announced a new release that has the code changes already applied.  Anyone with a maintenance contract can access the download gateway and download and install the latest release (currently version 7.040).

Assisted Patch:  If you cannot upgrade because of customizations, poor timing, or any other reason, we have a work around available.  You must contact Stone Edge Technologies tech support for us to apply a one-off patch to adhere to the change that UPS is making.  This patch can be applied to Version 7.0x through 7.5x, as well as v5.9.  You can schedule the patch by emailing sup...@stoneedge.com or by filling out our online support request form.

As always, you must have a maintenance contract to receive updates and technical support.  You can purchase a maintenance contract online.   If you are uncertain of the status of your maintenance contract or prefer not to purchase online, you can contact our sales team at 484-927-4804.

Happy Holidays

We tried upgrading to 7.040 yesterday on a Windows 7 Pro and Access 2010 setup but it doesn't work.  We submitted a ticket and were notified that this is a known issue that is being worked on.  We are really hoping this is fixed before the December 31st deadline with enough cushion to test it and upgrade all our workstations.

Hi Alan. A new 7.040 installer was uploaded to the download gateway last evening. It should resolve the issue you ran into. Please download the latest and let me know if you run into any issues.

Besides the UPS fix, are there any other updates coming from 7.024? We would hate to have to pay $1500+ for service contract just to get a UPS URL updated.

Petro,

I don't have the full list of new features and enhancements in front of me, but there has been quite a few and can throw out there off the top of my head.

There have been countless bug fixes.  We've going back to the archives to the Monsoon days, when development to the 7.x series pretty much stopped, and applied fixes for most known issues.  The feedback has been that the 7.03x releases have been "the most stables releases ever" which has been said by several long-time SEOM users.

We've also added support for several new payment gateways (NMI, the new Braintree API, we added a "Generic Gateway" which posts transactions to a web server of your choice for you to capture payments through anything custom, and we've added support for Shopify Payments).  We've added support for several new sales channels including Amazon FBA, FBM and Seller Fulfilled Prime, Magento 2, eBay, WooCommerce, Google Express, Shopify, a new Yahoo service, BV Commerce, and so on. All of the new cart/marketplace integrations are direct integrations with NO 3rd party software dependencies.  We've re-written the Manual Orders screen and several other screens to provide a more user friendly interface and we've brought back the old 5.9 View Orders and Manual Orders screens for those who prefer that old UI. We've added an Account Management feature to differentiate between sales people and account managers.  For Enterprise users, we've added an archive feature that allows you to archive SQL data.

In our beta we have an entirely brand new native shipping solution that does away with any and all 3rd party shipping software dependencies.  The shipping solution does automatic rate shopping, and provides a new and more reliable address verification service than what Endicia has been able to provide.  It also allows ALL stone Edge users to receive Commercial Plus pricing on USPS postage (something most SEOM users wouldn't qualify for on their own).  The savings here should easily cover your total operating costs for Stone Edge.  We've built out the framework to offer a tighter integration to shopping carts and marketplaces; our upcoming beta will debut the beginnings of this by allowing you to create product listings on Amazon automatically from Stone Edge.  This functionality will extend to other marketplaces assuming the demand is there.

This is what I can think of off the top of my head.

In addition to all that new stuff, your maintenance contract gives you tech support for when you need it which is critical for any busy retailer.  We have been operating with the goal of providing a same day response and usually a same day resolution to ALL support tickets for over a year now.  We hit that goal with almost all inbound support requests.  It's not a perfect service, but if you compare it to the support you would've received 2, 3, or 4 years ago, anyone would agree that it's improved by leaps and bounds.

I'd say there is enough value you to justify the cost of a maintenance plan.  Certainly more than just a URL change.  :)

it would be nice if you could download the change log from the digital gateway so you can read the change log prior to installing the new updated software. It is not the end of the world but it would just be nice to read it before installation.

just my 2 cents

Hi John,

Some of that sounds nice, but to confirm you still CAN use other external shipping solutions and for example, Endicia / Dazzle correct? I ask because for example we have custom negotiated rates for USPS international shipments directly with USPS and they are about 30% less than Commerical Plus. (We ship a LOT of international as you can tell).

We also have our own internal rate "shopping" system that includes rates you can't grab, like our consolidator solutions and such. So I assume that could be skipped as well?

The superior address verification service sounds great!

This is probably a question for Roxanne Brown…

We are currently running QB 2016 and synching with SEOM.

Has anyone who is synching with QuickBooks Desktop upgraded yet to QB 2019?

Can you Synch SEOM with QuickBooks online version?

Kamal,

SEOM works with QBs 2019 - you are good. However, I would encourage you to wait until February or March if you can before you upgrade to 2019. You know they (Intuit) always have a few releases the first couple months before it’s really truly stable.

I forgot to add, that SEOM does NOT work with QuickBooks online. QuickBooks Online is it entirely different beast, however if SEOM is interested in pursuing adding that option I would love to work with them on it. It actually would be a good option to add, the way the data is posted is perfect for use with QBOL

Of course!  Stone Edge will remain open source with an open database, so whatever external shipping tools you've managed to bolt on will still work.

We can do that.  Thanks for the suggestion.

John,

For those of us on the 7.5X PCI version, what is the patch to install?  When I go to the download gateway, I only see an updated 7.04. Is there a separate patch for the PCI version?

We just finished upgrading to StoneEdge 7.040 and we use Endicia / Dazzle. We preformed the upgrade after we got all of our shipping out for the day so we will know tomorrow if there are any issues with Endicia / Dazzle. Hopefully we will not see any issues.

Hey John,

What is the parameter for switching the Manual Orders screen to the old 5.9 UI?  I found the parameter to change the View Orders screen but try as a might I still haven't found the one for Manual Orders.

Thanks!
