Does anyone out there do item level tracking with partially shipped orders? We are running into an issue where a customer place in order and we partially ship it. The information that’s being sent back to shopping carts show the entire order has shipped and not just the items that have shipped. We do use the pick and pack function of Stone edge. It seems like on the Yahoo store we had this did not occur, but we’ve not been able to figure it out on BigCommerce or with an another.  We do use the pick and pack function of Stone edge. Thanks

We also would like to know the answer to this question as we have the same issue using MIVA.

Thanks,

Cale

This is limited to the shopping cart you’re using and that carts capabilities.  Most carts/channels APIs allow you to provide a tracking number for an order but not item level detail.

For any of them to work you do have to use the packing system in SEOM so it knows which items go to which tracking number.

The simplest way to accomplish this is to use Stone Edges own web based Order Status System.  That works universally regardless of which cart you use and also give your Mail order/telephone order customers a way to track their orders online in real time.

How does the shopping cart know which item has shipped? How does it associate the line item numbers on the original order to the line items on the new filled back order?

I have some more testing to do. It appears our big commerce integration is working as expected. We are trying to write code that allows me to take the shipped items on an order and push that back to a cart (the one Dan is developing an integration for ) ant an item level status. The shopping cart supports this but we can’t seem to identify the data that marries the stoneedge line item to the shopping cart item.

Stone Edge needs a field in the Order Details table to hold the original item number. When a backorder is filled in a new order, that field in the new order should get the item's original item number from the original order. That way, when shipping data is sent to a shopping cart, it can include the original item number, which is the only item number that the cart is aware of.
