Subject: 2/6 Mandarin Parent Meeting

Please forward the attachment and this note to all the Mandarin Room Parents.  Thank you!

Dear Mandarin Program Parents,

The K-5th Grades Mandarin Parent’s Meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, February 6 at 6:30pm and let us celebrate the Chinese New Year as well.  I’ll bring baked Chinese New Year Cake to share at the meeting.  Here are some examples of the traditional Chinese New Year snacks/food and their symbolism: Chinese New Year Cake (the symbol of promotion), pot stickers (its shape is like the old Chinese gold nugget/money), tangerines/oranges (they have the “golden” color and are the symbols of “good fortune”, goldfish (fish have the same pronunciation as “abundant”), noodle (symbol of long life), spring rolls, almond cookies, sweets and others. However, you may bring anything to share if you want to.

This meeting is also a mandatory meeting for the Parade students and parents.  Parade students must report to the MPR at 6:00pm and they will perform Chinese Kung Fu and songs at the beginning of the meeting at 6:30pm.

Let me know if you have questions.  Thank you!

Sincerely,

Deborah Murayama
Mandarin Specialist
